Reality runs on one Substrate. Four civilizations have read it through four different Registers.
Each Register is internally complete and predictively accurate. None is the whole picture. A character native to one Register may live their entire life believing their basis is the only basis — and their physics will work.
A reader who finishes one Arc World has read a complete novel. A reader who has read multiple Worlds begins to perceive what no individual character can: the Substrate itself.

World 1 of 4 · Register: Bit
"The system is real. The numbers are correct."
In 2031, a quantum experiment at CERN succeeds in addressing the Substrate directly. Every conscious mind on Earth wakes up with a HUD — a visible information register showing bandwidth, predictive horizon, and entropy budget. Civilization fractures into the Indexed (who learn to read and write the Layer) and the Refuseniks (who close their eyes).
World 2 of 4 · Register: Flow
"Every cultivator is downstream."
A continent shaped like a river system. Sects are watersheds, each ruled by a Source-master at the headwaters. Cultivation is real fluid dynamics — pressure, viscosity, phase transitions. Someone is poisoning the headwaters of every river simultaneously.
World 3 of 4 · Register: Story
"Be a story worth telling."
A century ago, Anansi cracked the spirit-internet. Reality now runs on narrative weight. The most-told stories bend physics around them. Your Weight is your power. Skills are Tropes you've earned through narrative work.
World 4 of 4 · Register: Watt
"Civilization runs on a floor. Raise it."
Earth, post-collapse, post-rebuild. The Floor is the minimum thermodynamic baseline below which civilization cannot sustain. Every character has a measurable Contribution — watts of efficiency they liberate per day. The Floor is falling. Something is consuming the gains as fast as engineers can liberate them.
